Sofiadagen/Fritids Open House

On Monday the 16th of May, we celebrated Sofiadagen in memory of Sofia Alm the founder of the original school in Rådan. 

    

Many pupils and staff were dressed up and pretended that it was 100 years ago! It was super fun. 

But besides being such a big day for the school, it was a very important day for Rådan's fritids as well. We had a huge open house and presented some of the main projects/activities that we have done during this educational year. 

Like all events, everything started with preparation:

Fritid's Trips:

During this year, we travelled to USA, UK, Australia and Egypt. Here we presented a summary of all facts, arts and crafts activities and baking clubs. The lovely fritids' kids helped to paint the flags, baked and made related crafts.

          Pharaoh (a king of ancient Egypt) or Horus (the God of war, sky, and falcons)

The main goal of our trips was that everyone learns something new about the countries and to improve the kids' communication skills. For instance, everyone who wanted to could write a postcard and mail it to his/her home address!

For a couple of weeks, the pupils in baking club baked British shortbread, Australian Anzac biscuits, American Chocolate chip cookies and Egyptian Baklava which they sold in Fritids Cafe. Needless to say there was nothing left!

We also had a quiz of the main facts that pupils were taught during the trips. 

They remembered more than we were expecting. Great mastering!

Rådan Film

We also had a very interesting film station in our fantastic fritids tent, complete with comfy sofa. Everyone could relax and enjoy the outdoor screening of our 3 förskoleklass films!!

Beading Project

It was a huge project for fritids and we had many resilient participants. It took time and constant effort but the result is amazing!

There are approximately 32000 beads in 27 different colors, and 40 beading plates were used. 



Sassy Bead 
Another popular station was Sassy Bead where we were selling the bracelets that fritids kids made during this club. The reason behind selling the bracelets was to raise funds for next year's club. It was a huge success and we sold more than our expectations. Kids were already starting to ask which materials we will need for next year's club which was very heartwarming!

Fritids Open House was very rich in different kinds of activities and it fulfilled our main goals.  We received so much positive and encouraging feedback and it brought new ideas for next year.

Rådan's kids are the most valuable resource and the best hope for future activities.

Working with them is a pleasant journey and we learn so many new things together along the way.

Öppet hus - Thursday

Yesterday we had an Open House here at school. We would like to thank all the parents that showed up! Thanks for your support. :-)

During this special day we had some extra activities that the parents could join as well. Some kids were playing dodge ball. Then we had other kids that went baking. They've baked cute little ghost cake pops. 

 

 

And the last group went beading with Narges and Kalle.It was one of the nicest Arts and Crafts clubs that we've had. Two groups of 18 lovely kids from pre-school till grade 3 participated in the club. We made bracelets with beads and our lovely participants could choose to make:  Rådan OR I  FRITIDS

One of the amazing things about this club was that older kids were very supportive and helpful to younger ones and club's atmosphere was full of Love and Cooperation. Look forward to have another one!
