BAKING CLUB IN FRENCH: BAKING POWDER BISCUITS

Fannie Farmer’s Baking Powder Biscuit


Materials
  • 5 mixing bowls
  • 5 table or butter knives
  • Something to roll dough on (parchment paper)
  • Cooking trays
  • Cookie cutters
  • Timer


Ingredients
  • 2 cups farine (flour) + extra for dusting board
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons beurre  (Butter)
  • Pincée sel
  • ¾  cup lait


Method
          

  1. Mix dry ingredients, and sift twice.
  2. Work in butter with tips of fingers
  3. Add milk, but not all! Mix with a knife to get a soft dough.
  4. Place onto a floured board and roll lightly to one-half inch in thickness.
  5. Shape with a cookie-cutter. Place on a buttered pan and bake at 220°C  for 12-15 minutes
